Sailing on Stars….
Bioluminescence is magic – pixie dust of the ocean.
Any movement in the dark water creates millions of tiny bright shiny stars in the white foam created by the sailboat gliding silently and effortlessly through the dark water, three hundred miles from the closest land mass.
The moon has gone down, the stars shine like bright diamonds in a vast black expanse and I feel humbled by the greatness of it all. The darkness fills everything, you can see absolutely nothing except the stars and the Bioluminescence and yet the wind keeps on blowing in your sails gently pushing the sailboat to where you want it to go.
Dawn will be breaking soon and then all this magic goes away and is replaced by gorgeous sunlight and deep blue water with dolphins oftentimes playing in your wake.
How is it even possible for a human to not acknowledge the existence of an almighty God who kept all this going from the beginning of time and into eternity?
As the sky slowly turns from pitch black to dark charcoal, you can start distinguishing the horizon and where ocean and sky is separated. The stars slowly loose their luster and start disappearing one by one. The same thing happens to the brilliant little stars in the white foam around the boat – they loose their luster and then totally dissappear until another dark night when someone stirs up the water and is lucky enough to experience the magic in the Caribbean Sea.
Then suddenly the next miracle is about to unfold – the eastern sky start turning the most spectacular crimson and you know that the war between light and dark is raging in the sky. Then, like every other day, light very slowly starts absorbing the darkness until all signs of darkness is forgotten and a bright new day unfolds.
As the horizon lightens and the devide between ocean and sky becomes more apparent, those “ghost ships” that kept you awake and watching the radar screen intently during your three to six watch, is suddenly revealed for what they are – stars low on the horizon. You can relax, no pirates sneaking up on you this evening.
The red in the sky dissapeared and made way for pale blue and Grey skies with slightly darker funny animal clouds playfully hopping around and extending the invitation to allow them to take you wherever your imagination wants to take you. This new day is yours, another miracle – treasure it and use it wisely!
